The giant gate is actually in the water. Since it was low tide, we got to walk right up to it.

If you can get a coin to stick into the gate, you will have good luck. Lucky me!

Koji found a clam.

This guy found a whole bunch of clams. We gave him the one that Koji found, which he happily put into his clam basket.

The line to get into the temple.

As you can see, when the tide comes in the water comes all the way back into the shrine. This is apparently very beautiful.

A lantern. In this picture, you can see that the walls of the shrine are bright orange. Japanese people will vehemently inform you that this is "red" (it's only red when it's a shrine. Otherwise, even they agree that it's bright orange)
