Shitennoji with Minori - June 26th, 2003
Minori and I went on a little temple/shrine viewing tour of the Kansai area. We started off in Osaka, at Shitennoji temple.

Some birds sitting on a telephone wire.
A mess of elecrical wires overhead
The west gate of the temple
This is a big incense burner on the way into the temple.
Shitennoji in all of its glory
... and what do you know, a pond full of hundreds of turtles!
Turtles hanging out on top of each other.

More turtles, just hanging out
Another one of the temple buildings
This is the oldest temple building. You can see it's kind of deteriorating.
I really liked watching the turtles swim around.
This little area is actually a mini-temple, to the turtle gods or something...
I don't know if it's bad luck to take pictures of graves or not ... anyway, here's a picture of a grave.
The area around Shitennoji is full of really old buildings like this.
